gilman memorial turkey trot
In mid-November of this year, my wife (Sherry) talked me and about 10 others into running a 5K run in Dodge Center, MN, just north of our town of Hayfield. It was a fund raiser for Alzheimer's Disease. On November 17th, we drove the 10 miles to Dodge Center, and as we got closer to town, it started to lightly snow or as some would say "flurry". When the race began at 9AM, it was snowing. The temperature was right around the freezing mark, but it really was a nice day for a run.
Most of us ran together for the majority of the race. Around two-miles in, I decided I needed to go faster. At this point, I had been running every other day for about two months, as I hurt my shoulder lifting weights. I wanted to get a "good" time. Well, I finished the race in just under 28 minutes! Everyone finished the race with very respectable times!
I think I will be running more races now with Sherry. It really was a ton of fun and I felt a sense of accomplishment when I was done. I actually said I could run it again, but after standing around for a while, I decided I did not. My wife ended up finishing about five times as she finished with my friend Bear and then went back to get others from our group. The pictures I posted here is of me (on the left) and Sherry and Bear finishing the race.
If you want to see more race pictures, go to the Dodge Center Chiropractic site here. Special thanks to Dr. Klein for putting the race together! We can't wait until next year!
